FITS 2012: The Sound of Sewing

Yesterday, The Small Square was filled up with people watching The Sound of Sewing. Something ordinary as sewing was transformed into an unusual thing because of the location in which it took place. It happened in the centre of the city, in the middle of the day and with an incredible and interested audience watching it. What is more is that each sewing machine had a bicycle attached to it and when the person riding it was pedaling, the sewing machines started working. So, there were people sewing clothes in the middle of the Small Square... dancing, singing, playing music and having an uplifting spirit while sewing... Here are the photos and a video...

And the video is...

FITS 2012: Human Statue...

The people going in the Big Square might stumble upon a kind of weird human like statue... Sitting on a platform, the statue steals glances at the people around it. Whenever someone gives it money, it moves thanking him or her or trying to interact non-verbally with that person. It also gives candies to small children.

Here are some photos of the human statue...

FITS 2012: The Fairies Group and Audio Ballerinas VIDEO

The long-expected FITS 19th edition is here. Here comes a period of street theatre and carnival which are meant to introduce and celebrate creativity and fine arts. While deciding to go for a walk or for any other business in the city centre there is an extremely high chance of stumbling across art presentations that are meant to lift one out of the ordinary city like life and transpose him or her in a world full of colour and well-being.

The Sibiu International Theatre Festival 19th edition is the place to be right now. Here are some of the photos and videos taken by me while being in the city centre on business and taken by surprise by the colorful Fairies Group and the Audio Ballerinas. They have surely transposed me in a different state of mind... and brought joyfulness to all the people watching them...

Here they are....

These are the Audio Ballerinas. Whenever they moved they made a sound like the one you can hear on the radio when you can't catch the station. It  sounded like coming from outer space...

Spring Boulevard

Here are two photos of the main boulevard in Sibiu, Nicolae Balcescu Boulevard, in spring time. It is full of people who are mainly tourists wanting to visit the city, to see its well-known attractions. The spring agitation is obvious which is a signal for the summer upheaval that is to come. Who doesn't want the city centre to be full of vibration? So, let it come....

Council Tower in Winter Time

Council Tower
The above photo shows a proud Council Tower which seems like wanting to touch the perfect sky with its pointy top.

It stands out among all the other buildings surrounding it. On the right side of the tower, there is a red building where the restaurant "La Turn" is. On the left side of the tower, there is the Billa supermarket and the Villa Astoria hotel. The road coming from the Council Tower leads to the Liars' Bridge shown to you in my previous posts.

Liars' Bridge Covered in Snow

Liars' Bridge
Here is a far away photo of the well-known Liars' Bridge in the Small Square. A coat of snow has covered everything in order to keep it warm and safe for the winter. The buildings are fighting desperately to get rid of the snow but with no result whatsoever.
The next photo shows their fighting a lot better.

And here is a view of the Liars' Bridge from one side.

You can see the map of the city centre on the left.

The next photo shows a view of the Council Tower taken from a side of the road that leads to the Liars' Bridge. You can only see half of the Council Tower, namely the bottom of it in the background.

And now, a closer  photo of the Liars' Bridge covered in snow which makes everything stand out a lot better.

The next two photos show the views from the Liars' Bridge, one facing the Big Square and the other facing the Old Town.

Pigeons Walking on the Pavement

Pigeons

The above photo shows pigeons walking freely on the pavement in the Big Square. They have chosen the dry part of the pavement strategically to be closer to the improvized feeding spot shown to you in the previous post. Some of them are trying to engulf what the feeder has thrown at them or whatever they can find in this barren scenery.
