Avram Iancu Street

The following photos show the view of Avram Iancu street which is very close to the Big Square. As you can see the hanging lamp posts are forming a somewhat straight line over the street and it looks like they are joining the houses from both sides of the street. Trees can be seen on both sides of the street, the ones on the right being taller. The Romanian flag is also present.

The last photo shows the view from the Avram Iancu street toward the Big Square. You can see the Council Tower in the background and a car wanting to leave the parking lot. It looks as if the street is very silent and not at all busy but it also has a clean view.

Pigeons on a House in the Big Square

A walk through the Big Square is not complete without laying the eye on the numerous pigeons that consider it their personal home and which can be found in different places such as in the middle of the square, on buildings or in the air. The following photos show you some of the pigeons standing on the roof of a building and watching everything around them with great care. At the approach of someone they started flying in the air only to return on the same building a few moments later. The photos are a bit dark since it was between day and night but still distinguishable.

A Steakhouse and a Tree in the Big Square

The following photos are of a Steakhouse that is near the Starbucks Coffee right opposite the La Turn Restaurant in the Big Square. I really like how the tree body stands out and it looks as if it splits the photo in half. On the left there is the really nice and tranquil Avram Iancu street and on the right you can see the building which hosts The Grill Steakhouse. The hanging street lamp is like a UFO trying to spy on the people eating their meals in the steakhouse or maybe trying to steal the recipe for the so delicious steaks. Care for a steak, anyone?

Starbucks Coffee Restaurant in the Big Square of Sibiu

Starbucks has recently opened a new restaurant in Sibiu. It is situated in the Big Square opposite the Council Tower and La Turn Restaurant. The following images show the location from the outside and you can see that it is already full of people wanting to indulge into their famous and tasty drinks and not only. I provided a look of the exterior during the day and also at night. Coffee anyone?

Night Shade

"La Turn" Restaurant in the Big Square has some interesting terrace umbrellas in front of it. I always get the impression that they are upside down thing that makes them even more interesting. Being white as they are makes them stand out even more in the darkness of the night. Not only do they offer shade from the sun during the summertime but they also offer an interesting view in the wintertime.

The last photo shows one of the restaurant umbrellas on the right and the view of the Big Square in the middle. The statue of Gheorghe Lazar can also be seen in the background intertwining with the passers-by. The bright light in the background provides a good contrast to the tree skeletons that are waiting to be dressed in leaves once again during the spring. A wonderful view!

Lightened Arcade Alleyway

These lightened arcade alleyways make one be under the impression that he or she is going to enter a different dimension or state of being. Moreover, they provide an interesting sight that links the Big Square to the Little one. It is just like passing through a mysterious tunnel and wondering about what you will find on the other side, the light at the end of the tunnel.

The Statue of Gheorghe Lazar

There is a statue in the Big Square and this statue is of Gheorghe Lazar who stands imposingly and overlooking the square charming everyone with its sobriety. The ever present snow layer during this time of year is what provides a contrast as usual to everything of a different colour.

Fountain in the Winter

Here are some photos of the fountain from the city centre. It is a strong contrast between how it looks like in summertime being surrounded by people who want to drink its water or just lay around catching their breath after a long walk through the old city and it deserted state during wintertime when the people are being replaced by the snow layer trying to cover it all up like a blanked providing rest after the strong agitation season that passed not so long time ago and that is going to return and which has to be welcomed with open arms.

Lamp Posts in the Night

What can light and brighten the Big Square at night? Well, the lampposts shining brightly in the darkened night sky making them pop put even more. Snow is not an exception here as well. It represents the white layer that hides any imperfection portraying a somewhat purgative and cleansed city center.

Evening Obscurity

This is right in front of the City Hall which can be seen in the back. There is a little bit of snow left on the ground just to remind us that it is still here and not leaving very soon. It is gathered in such a way as to create a path for the pedestrians' walk. It is in a competition with the lights lighting the City Hall, the buildings and the square. Guess which one wins?

Ever wondered how the Big Square looks at night? Well, I have a set of photos taken recently and which I am going to share with you. Night time and winter left overs. What a beautiful scenery! Enjoy!

Pigeons Eating in the Big Square

Below are some photos of the pigeons who are eagerly eating their lunch right there in the Big Square. They provide good entertainment for the onlookers and they make the Big Square come to life.

Deserted Fountain

The next photos show you the difference between two periods of time, one when fall was not so much felt around, when everything was just right for everybody, even for the little martins who were having their way in the fountain in the Big Square, and the other one when everything is turned upside down and has taken a great "fall" and there is nothing anyone can do about it but to accept and embrace it as it is and hope for the best to come.

Banners: Young Festival in Sibiu

The following photos show you the banners for the Young Festival in Sibiu which is taking place between the 10th and 16th of October. Have a look at that perfect blue sky. There are only some cloud remains here and there but not so much as to really observe them. Although the sky is misleading you into thinking it was a rather warm day, it was exactly the other way around. The temperature started to drop quite fast these days making way for a rather whimsical fall. Indulge in the photos!
